Narcissus – Påskens första och sista lilja / Narcissus – The first and last daffodil of Easter

Narcissus – The first and last daffodil of Easter

Subtle daffodils breaks the ground,
golden light calms our worry.
Feelings gather, in silent sound,
brotherhood is present, need not hurry.

The sunshine is captured by the petals,
the wind race pass the stalk.
Sentinel concrete, guards like metal,
embrace each other, needs no talk.

Then one day, the lily withers,
but continue as a part in space.
Last of all, fades the figures,
next step? New world, new place…

Narcissus – Påskens första och sista lilja

Påskliljor subtila bryter jorden,
gyllene sken stillar oron.
Känslor samlas i de vackra orden,
gemenskap stärker tilltron.

Solskenet fångas uti kronbladen,
vinden forsar bredvid stjälken.
Betongen vakar över innerstaden,
närhet är ibland den bästa hjälpen.

Så en dag vissnar liljan,
men blir fortsatt en del av alltet.
Men sist av allt stillar viljan,
nästa steg? Ingen vet…

Podcast: Episode 2 - Where does all the time go?

Where does all the time go?

Where does all that time go? 24 hours a day and still many of us don’t have enough time for the things we would like to do. I would like to help you get some data on where you spend your time. In connection with Episode 2 of my podcast, about Free Time and How To Get It, I’ve made a free simple excel spreadsheet that you can download from my webpage johanedfeldt.com/downloads. With the spreadsheet it’s easier for you to have a think about where you’ve spent your time and get some data over a week or two. When you have that data you can start to consider if there is anything, small or large, that you can change in order to free up some more time for your passion project (until you reach the stage where you can live off your passionJ), whatever it may be. It’s a very simple sheet and it doesn’t matter how you map your time (log your time), the important thing is to get a feel for where it all goes. For some it might come as a bit of surprise that for example the commuting to work is taking 2 hours a day, which means 10 hours a week on a five day work week. It can however turn out that part of those 2 hours can be spent on something else than, driving? It all depends on what options you have available, but for some it might be an option to commute with train, buss or some colleagues. During this time there might be periods that you can use for either work related projects or why not your own passion project (if it’s not your time to drive the commuting car of course, then it’s probably better to focus on the driving). I used to spend a lot of my commuting time writing my fantasy novel and catching up on some work projects, sure I spent some extra time on the actual travelling but then again I got my hobby project done for the day, or reached further on my job projects, and that gave me a strong feeling of comfort.

Podcast: Episode 1 - Free Time and How To Get It

Some more free time, anyone?

Would you like to have some more free time? Who wouldn’t? I’m confident that most of us would like to have more time available for the things we love to do right? It’s just that there are so many other things that comes in between, work, commuting even sleeping. The good news is that you, as everybody else, have 24 hours of time available every day. Yes I know it’s an obvious statement, but when you think about 24 hours it’s actually quite a long period of time. Everybody have the same amount of hours available, be it the richest person in the world or be it the poorest. One might argue that with greater resources the more “free time” one can achieve and that is of course a fact. If you could live close by your job, get assistance with grocery shopping and cleaning, having a fitness centre next door etc. you’ll likely have more free time available, but it’s up to you how to use it. Maybe there are a few levers that you can use to change your current time map into a different one? Maybe there are some things that you can alter in your life that would free up some more time for your passion?

I’m very passionate about time and interested in how different people use their time. My real interest for time and time management began when I started studying two degrees simultaneously and completed my masters degree in engineering and my bachelor degree in economics at the same time in 2010. Many people that I’ve met have said “But, that’s not possible” or “That wouldn’t be possible for me”, but somehow it was possible. For the moment I’m in the final stage of my MBA, which I’ve studied towards in parallel with my full time job. I’m no genius, but I’m a structured hard worker that knows the importance of task prioritisation and the Pareto principle (the 80/20 rule - 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes). From this my interests for time and time management have grown into a stage where I now have started my very own podcast that will be about free time and how to get it. I call it just that “Free time and how to get it” and I ask only for 10-20 minutes of your time once a week and hopefully I can help you take control of your time and together we can start your journey towards a fulfilled life! I förhoppningarnas tider / In the time of hope

In the time of hope
Light as the dream of thought
Hope still lives on
When will all battles be fought?
Will eternity ever dawn?

Winters’ feast is soon upon us
The coming midwinter night
With hope of peace all among us
The winner need not fight

Spare a thought for each other
Spare a moment throughout the land
Take care of all and other
And hold on to every hand

I förhoppningarnas tider
Lätt som drömmens tanke
Lever hoppet alltjämt här
När vad som helst kan ske
Finns evigheten där?

Det lackar mot vinterns högtid
Den stundande midvinterns kväll
Med hopp om allom julfrid
Störst är den som är snäll

Skänk en tanke till varandra
Skänk ett ögonblick i sänder
Tag vara på de andra
Och slut samman era händer

Trevande tanke / Tentative Thought

Tentative Thought

A strange sound in the distance sounds warped
It gnaws at the idea and gives us an itch to scratch
We cannot pull our thoughts away from it completely
It remains in our mind, it is worth thinking about, or does it?

How we try to repress
There's always there like a scar
But it is also the power of thought and extends the horizon
And create an experience that is forever

Trevande tanke
